KNOW THE MATERIAL
What is PC Mirror?
PC (polycarbonate) is a transparent engineering thermoplastic used as the substrate for impact-resistant plastic mirrors. PC mirrors are manufactured by applying a thin metallic reflective coating to a polycarbonate sheet, typically followed by a protective backing layer to shield the reflective coating from damage during handling and fabrication.
Among common plastic mirror materials such as PMMA, PS, and PETG, PC stands out for its high impact strength, heat resistance, and toughness. PC material has the highest hardness, and its impact strength, heat resistance, and toughness are all the best among the four materials. It is a commonly used material in outdoor mirror applications.
We produce PC mirrors in large sheet form, with options for thickness, color, and size. We also support custom processing, surface protection, and compliance testing according to project requirements.
Why Consider PC for Mirror Projects?
High Impact Resistance
PC material has relatively high impact strength and can absorb a large amount of impact energy when subjected to sudden impact. Compared with materials such as PMMA and PS, PC has stronger toughness and is more capable of withstanding greater external impact forces.
High Heat Resistance
The heat resistance of PC material is higher than that of conventional PMMA, PS, and PETG. At higher temperatures, PC sheets are less prone to softening, and can maintain good rigidity and dimensional stability, withstanding working environments at higher temperatures.
High Shatter Resistance
Glass mirrors are easily shattered after being subjected to strong impacts, producing sharp fragments. In contrast, PC mirror typically bend or sustain localized damage when impacted, and almost never cause injuries from broken shards.
Flame-Retardant Options
PC materials are available in different flame-retardant grades. By adding specific flame-retardant components, they can self-extinguish after the fire source is removed. Some flame-retardant grade PC materials can achieve a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating at specified thicknesses.
Exploring Mirror Types Suitable for PC
PC mirrors are not limited to traditional flat mirrors; like PMMA materials, they can be applied in almost all areas.

Mirror Sheet
Flat PC mirror sheets, like PMMA mirror sheets, offer the widest variety of choices. Various customized products and processing techniques.

Two Way Mirror
PC two-way mirror is commonly available in small-size specifications. We also provide large-size sheets. Specifications can be adjusted according to requirements.

Convex Mirror
Convex mirrors made of PC material are a common choice for outdoor use. Their outdoor application coverage is broader than that of PMMA material.

Concave Mirror
Concave PC mirrors are commonly available in small sizes. In terms of material, PC is harder than acrylic, but its light transmission and reflectivity are slightly poorer.

Dome Mirror
Like convex mirrors, PC material dome mirrors are also used outdoors. The material is stronger and more suitable for use in outdoor environments.

Anti-Fog Mirror
PC material is more suitable for anti-fog mirrors. Its heat resistance can better protect the aging of the anti-fog coating on the mirror surface, resulting in a longer product lifecycle.
